Overview

DUO for a JOB is a non-profit created in 2013 offering a unique intergenerational and intercultural mentoring programme in Belgium. The association pairs young people from immigrant backgrounds (aged 18-33) with volunteer mentors over 50 to support them in their job search. With a remarkable success rate, 70% of young people supported sign a contract within 6 months of being taken on.

Services offered

  • 6-month mentoring programme: a young person paired with an experienced mentor, supervised by a coordinator
  • Job search workshops and mock interviews led by HR professionals
  • 4-day mentor training: active listening, intercultural relations, shortage occupations and support structures

Who is it for?

Young people aged 18 to 33 from immigrant backgrounds seeking employment, as well as professionals aged 50 and over wishing to volunteer as mentors. The programme is active in Brussels, Liege, Charleroi, Antwerp and Ghent.
